A Steadfast Mind
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” – Isaiah 26:3
Peace. In our fast-paced world, this word can sometimes seem comical. Peace! What’s that?! One definition defines peace as “freedom from disturbance; tranquility”. If you think like me, at first glance this seems a bit daunting. Freedom from disturbance – when will that ever happen? Should we create a weekend called PEACE where you go somewhere to simply be left alone!? All joking aside, although external peace may be hard to come by these days, how wonderful that our souls can find this by simply fixing our heart’s gaze on the one who calms the seas & carries us in His mighty hand. Internal peace IS available because of our savior Jesus Christ.
How I love this definition – Peace: the ability to wait patiently in spite of panic brought on by uncertainty. Sister, I know you are going through a period of uncertainty, and so does your Heavenly Father. Although it is so easy to focus on these things, can I encourage you to take a deep breath and just say, “Father – I trust you.” Can I encourage you to simply focus your mind on things above, as you declare who God is and speak His sweet promises over your life.
When we look out at the mess and the unknown, we will begin to shake; to falter; to doubt; to fear. Despite the external pressures, uncertainties, disappointments and obligations, you can choose to look UP rather than OUT. Look UP to the One who has proven faithful time and time again. God’s Word PROMISES that He will “keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in (Him)” – Isaiah 26:3. Whatever place you are in right now, there is hope, and there is peace in the waiting. I can make this promise to you, Sis, because our Heavenly Father has as well.
Chuck Swindoll wisely stated, “Lacking the panorama of God’s perspective, all we see are the outer limits of our one square. So we panic. “What will I do? How will I handle tomorrow? What about . . . ? What if . . . ? But . . . !
Portrayed here is our daily internal panic. Relax! God knows just the vehicle, and He’s got the timetable put together so that you can watch Him work. Sit back in joyful expectation sister, in His perfect peace, and BE EXPECTANT! As you look to His Word, trust He will work and show up in His perfect, loving timing.
