Hold Fast to Faith
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” – Hebrews 11:1
Sometimes faith, which in essence is so simple, feels so tricky. I find myself having faith in God to provide or do “a thing” … and somehow, my faith and focus on God to provide or do “a thing” turns into a focus on THE THING itself and not God. Ahhhh…madness! Anyone relate!? What is crazier – I never remember deciding to shift my focus off God. Instead, it just subtly happens, until one day I realize I am tired and bitter or hopeless and distraught. Lightbulb moment!!! Or … let’s get real … Holy Spirit moment! The love of the Lord grabs hold of my mind and heart, whispering “daughter, you took your eyes off me”.
Sis – we cannot place our hope in God’s good things alone – even those we feel sure God is going to bring to pass. Our faith must first be rooted in Him. When the sneaky shift in your sight occurs, you will feel it in your spirit: unrest and loss of peace.
Take heart, loved one. We serve a good God; a mighty God; a living God. Cry out for that faith: ask Him to fill you with it – faith in Him: His promises; His truth; His ways. When you ask, He will help you grow in faith. When you take a step forward, choose to simply believe, or act in obedience, He will increase your faith. Hebrews 12:2 claims that God is “the author and perfecter of faith.”
The enemy that has reign over this earth doesn’t want you to walk in faith; and girlfriend, He is that subtle, sneaky voice that slowly tries to break down your spirit. We must take up the shield of faith: “Above all, carry the shield of faith so that you can extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word. Offer prayers and petitions in the Spirit all the time. Stay alert by hanging in there and praying for all believers.” – Ephesians 6:16-18.
Faith will extinguish the lies of the enemy. Faith is rooted in belief in God’s holy word. I love how this passage says, “hang in there.” It is actually comical to me. Maybe that is your season – just hanging in & not giving up. It has definitely been mine at times, and that is ok. Hang in there in the Spirit, rooted in the Word, connected to the body, and protecting yourself with the shield of faith. We are in a battle, but remember, we already know who wins.
Hallelujah that there is “no care is too desperate for God. There is no problem He cannot overcome. Hope in God can see you through your greatest difficulties and meet every longing of your heart.” – Charles Spurgeon.
We are here for you, Sis – in the real & the raw. We love you.
