“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
– 2 Corinthians 5:21
Every night I get in bed with my four year old and read to him from his story Bible. Every story within begins with the reminder that God was, and still is, on a rescue mission for the souls of his people and closes with a proclamation of His goodness & faithfulness in the work He was coming to do, and DID, on the cross.
I am always so humbled by these sweet stories, meant to resonate with the brain of a 4 year old, but that impact my soul in gigantic ways. Mostly, these stories so simply remind me that THE STORY is not about me, but of God: His goodness; His faithfulness; His pursuing and never-ending love; His glory.
As the New Year draws near, what a beautiful reminder: Almighty God, out of His deep love for us, took on flesh in the ultimate rescue mission, so that we might have salvation, not by anything we have done, but by everything He did. What love is this!!? It’s unconditional; sacrificial; faithful; amazing; undeserved yet freely given.
1 John 5:9-10 states “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Reiterating this, we read in Luke 19: 10 that “the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Sister, if you are in Christ Jesus, you ARE saved. No more trying, striving and earning – REST in His love; His promises; His peace. Let him transform you from the inside out because of how deeply He loves you. In Christ you are now the “righteousness of God,” free to boldly step into the future trusting that the ultimate work has been done.
Peace be with you this new decade as you grasp the true depth of His magnificent love for you; and the miracle of salvation.
